We Read Everything.
So You Don't Have To.

BioHackBuyer was built out of frustration. Too many "review" sites push products they've never researched seriously, with rankings determined by who pays the highest referral fee rather than by evidence. We decided to do it differently.

Our Mission

To be the most honest, deeply researched source of biohacking gear information on the internet. This space attracts serious people who want to genuinely improve their health and performance. They deserve serious research, not listicles copy-pasted from Amazon descriptions or influencer talking points.

We focus on categories where the quality gap between products is enormous and the marketing is particularly misleading: hyperbaric chambers, infrared saunas, cold plunge systems, and red light therapy devices. In each category, the price range spans from "actually works" to "expensive placebo" — and we'll tell you which is which.

We genuinely care about health. We're people trying to optimize our own wellbeing on realistic budgets. That perspective shapes everything we write.

How We Research

01

We synthesize across hundreds of sources

For each category, we aggregate data from verified owner reviews, independent lab tests, expert analyses, peer-reviewed studies, and manufacturer specifications. No single source tells the whole story — patterns across many sources do.

02

We prioritize third-party and peer-reviewed data

Manufacturer claims are the starting point, not the endpoint. We look for independent measurements — irradiance tests, EMF readings, temperature accuracy data, longevity reports — to verify or contradict what brands say about their own products.

03

We apply consistent evaluation criteria

Before evaluating any category, we define the metrics that actually matter. For red light panels: irradiance at distance, wavelength accuracy, EMF levels, flicker rate. For cold plunges: temperature accuracy, chilling speed, maintenance burden. Every category has its own evidence-based framework.

04

We compare honestly within price tiers

A $500 cold plunge should be judged differently than a $5,000 one. We rank within price tiers and overall, so you can find the best option for your actual budget — not just the best product regardless of cost.

05

We update when the evidence changes

The market changes. New products launch, brands update formulations or manufacturing, and new research emerges. We revisit our content on a regular schedule and update recommendations when the data warrants it.

Editor & Lead Researcher

DW

David Westbrooks

Research lead at BioHackBuyer. Spends more time reading hyperbaric chamber studies than any reasonable person should.

David runs BioHackBuyer's research pipeline end-to-end: scoping categories, sourcing primary literature, synthesizing owner data, and pressure-testing recommendations against evidence before anything goes live. The work is editorial, not promotional. If a manufacturer can't substantiate a claim with data, that claim doesn't make it into a guide.

What We Are and What We Are Not

We are a research aggregator and editorial guide — not a product testing lab. We do not personally own and operate every product we review. What we do is something different and, we believe, often more valuable: we synthesize what independent testers, long-term owners, and researchers have found, and present it clearly without a commercial agenda.

When independent lab data exists, we cite it. When it doesn't, we say so. We are transparent about the limits of our knowledge and the strength of the evidence behind every recommendation we make.

This does not affect our recommendations. Our rankings are based on research quality and evidence, not commission rates. We include products with no affiliate program if they deserve to be included, and we flag when a top pick does not have an affiliate link.
